Typical politician exaggeration

California's outgoing Governor Gray Davis has said the wildfires, which have now been burning for nine days, may be the worst disaster in the state's history..

He has presumably forgotten the 1906 San Francisco earthquake.

(And yes, that was some decades after California became a state.)
