This is pretty much what it says on the cover - 100 experiments that one can carry out at home, ranging from the gross (how much do certain foods survive the digestion process) to the explosive (what happens when you drop certain sweets into a bottle of Coke). All is inspired by the Last Word column in New Scientist magazine, though this book isn't as fascinating as the questions and answers from there preserved in Why Don't Penguins' Feet Freeze?.

All the experiments here are aimed at enthusiastic youngsters, under the assumed oversight of a parent or other responsible adult. This is one for dipping into, rather than going from start to finish.

The eponymous experiment is the one that'll take longest, by the way. You're not going to see the results of laying, for example, [livejournal.com profile] korenwolf in undisturbed mud for quite a while. A few generations won't be long enough.
