A brainworm

After yesterday's conclusion to the interminable Isner-Mahut tennis match, the zombie theme has been going round my head.

And somewhat inevitably, it has come up with

The Zombies of Wimbledon Common: strange creatures emerge from their shelters and keep Wimbledon Common tidy by collecting and recycling passers-by.

That's why they get new ball girls and boys - the previous year's crop have been zombiefied. They dart out, grab a lost child, and dart back to their shelter, or ahead, to a different, wordlessly communicating - as is zombies' wont - with another to abandon their shelter in an elegant swap.

A title like that should really be attached to a Doctor Who story, don't you think? Possibly one starring Bernard Cribbins. :)
