Britain, tornado capital of the world?

Not quite, it seems, the Netherlands beats the UK on number of tornadoes reported per square mile.

At least according to the BBC report.

Mind you, the US has far more powerful ones.

Back in 1976, when I saw one off the south coast, I didn't believe what I was seeing - as far as I knew, we didn't get them. (OK, so it was a waterspout, being over the sea, but the same thing.)

Saw something vaguely like it at Glastonbury, which was whirling rubbish up into the air, they seemed to have a photo of it up on the BBC's coverage at one point, it was very very odd.

Hmm, was it a proper twister (i.e. develops down from the cloud base) or a super-jumbo family size dust devil?

(Not that I'd want to get hit by either.)
