Hmmm

According to this BBC report, some passengers have been banned from Ryanair for life, for smoking on board flights.

We do wonder if one of them was the person being greeted by police at Baden-Baden airport the Saturday before last. We gather that the person in question had been caught puffing away in the toilets on board.

"Smoking in the lavatories is dangerous, and will activate an alarm". The announcement isn't a joke, both Boeing and Airbus equip their toilets with smoke-detectors, and justly so.

Smoking in the cabin is, at worst, a nuisance. In the toilets, there tend to be a lot of paper towels and similar flammable material, so the risk of someone dropping a cigarette butt isn't one to take.

Smoking in the toilets is prosecutable as a criminal offence in all of Europe, and probably pretty much anywhere in the world.

Go Ryanair.
