I wonder how often that happens

Note to self.

Next time when buying tickets from Basel SBB to Freiburg, do not accidentally buy tickets to Fribourg instead. Fribourg is in the wrong country, it's in the wrong direction, and it's twice as far away.

Oh, and it costs twice as much, even allowing for reductions.

It's probably just as well that no ticket inspector spotted we had the wrong tickets, though I'm sure they would have understood.

Um, did I make a mistake? It only cost £20 return each, which at the time seemed about right...

Ah, yep. Should have cost about €19.80 each, return on the ICE. That's without any reductions. (The RE price is only €12.80 return, before reductions.)

Not that it really matters, it's just I was gazing at the ticket, and wondering why it said "Via Olten-Bern". Now, that's in the wrong direction. Then I looked more closely at the spelling.
