I live in fear of moving. Most people here hire a firm to do the final cleanout for about 1500 CHF, and that comes with a guarantee of passing the cleaning. A month's rent (or more, as in our case) to guarantee that the apartment will pass inspection.

I think Singapore might only beat out Switzerland because of their harsh penalties.

Over the course of a long tenancy (say, 10 years), it's a relatively small amount. But I can see it's really going to be a pain if you move frequently.
