Half our staff has already dashed off, I can see stationary traffic on the road from here, and unless it eases off, I'm walking home.

There's a blizzard here. Lucky you to live within walking distance. I don't know if I'll make my tai chi class tonight. it's only a mile away but it's all cross-country. Don't fancy getting stuck there.

Oh my god it's a snowflake!!!!

The lack of ability to deal with snow always amazes me in this country, ok let's see. It's white, slippery and a little dangerous. This means, drive more carefully and put some extra stuff in the car (shovel, blanket etc etc) if you need to travel.

But no, the massed herds of morons on the road either try to drive as normal or panic and drive 1mph on the basis they might lose control.

Well, I've just phoned the stables and been advised not to come out tonight on the grounds that no-one wants to hang around. I drive reasonably okay in snow, but I'd have to head out the A102 to get there and frankly, I don't want to deal with the leap in the numbers of morons on the road, which is what bothers me more than driving in the snow itself (hell, if I *want* to be poncy, I not only have 4WD, after all, I also have low-ratio 4WD!).

Anyway, Peggy is tucked up for the night. Just wish I was wearing heavier shoes - mine are definitely going to make my feet cold on the way home tonight.

I wont mention the amount of snow we have here at the moment and the fact that everyone carries on like normal.

The only worrying fact is that every car in the garage has snow chains on apart from mine, hmmmm.

In fact, the same quantity of snow causes problems the world over. That quantity is "significantly more than usual". In southern England, that means any snow. In (e.g.) the north-east US, it might be three feet. But it's the same principle. And any claims that the US is better at handling snow can easily be refuted by seeing what happens when somewhere like Dallas gets an exceptional snow shower, and the whole place shuts down.
