It's rather fine to catch a movement out of the corner of one's eye, to turn, and to see that the aircraft passing by at relatively low altitude is a B17.

It was a little further away than the Chinook that went past earlier. That one was a couple of hundred metres away (but unusually quiet for some reason - we normally hear them before we see them).

It's rather fine to catch a movement out of the corner of one's eye, to turn, and to see that the aircraft passing by at relatively low altitude is a B17.

It was a little further away than the Chinook that went past earlier. That one was a couple of hundred metres away (but unusually quiet for some reason - we normally hear them before we see them).

As I predicted ... sort of.

As I predicted, the first Test against South Africa ended in a draw. But I'll candidly admit that the course of the match on the way to that draw was not what I expected.

When the English first innings had piled up such a huge score over the first two days, I assumed that the pitch was a batter's paradise. Seeing SA collapse to such a pitiful first innings score by the end of the third day left me wondering whether a result was possible after all. But is seems that there really were runs to be scored after all: SA didn't merely squeak home, they managed to pass the English score with 7 wickets left, and in a world with no time limit, they might have skittled England out for a low enough score to actually win.
