It's like being asked on the form for entering Australia "Do you have a criminal record ?" to which the only possible answer is "I'm sorry, I hadn't realised it was still necessary."

I guess it's easier for .nz people, what with the whole commonwealth/royalty thing. I bet she didn't have to swear allegiance to the throne, or go through a citizenship ceremony...

Like many Kiwis and Aussies, I rather suspect her parents were British citizens too. Which helps.

When I got my aussie citizenship I had to affirm (I refused to swear) my allegience to the Queen. Despite already being a British Subject of Her Majesty.
