And am I a Carlow man now?

Well, perhaps not, but it appears that the peripateticity of my ancestors took them further south from Louth than just Dublin.

It seems one Edward Bellingham was resident at Leighlinbridge Castle in 1547. Next time I'm in the region, I'll have to track it down.

It's fairly easy to find, not least 'cos the main road south from Carlow (the N9) runs through the area. But really, I'd stop heading south, [livejournal.com profile] clanwilliam spent too much in Carlow, but you wouldn't want to end up finding ancestors in her home county as well!

I'm wondering if, when we wandered around the area with her and [livejournal.com profile] gmh, we may have passed it.

You did when we went down to Kilkenny, but it's below the level of the road.

The Lord Bagenal does O'Hara's stout on tap, btw. And is just across the river from the castle...

I wonder if the Bagenals are related to the Bagnalls.

If so, that'd make me Carlow on both sides. Eep!
