Oh for some duct tape

The major problem I have with Doom 3 is - it's all so dark. And I can hold the torch, or a weapon. So, what I really want to be able to do is tape the torch to the shotgun barrel.

Hey, they're trying to use logic. I'm not sure that's allowed.

What I don't get is why in the future there are apparently no weapons with lights mounted on them, when the lovely Belgian FN-P90 SMG, developed in the late 1980s, has a light attachment (as any regular viewers of Stargate SG-1 will know).

And Fox Mulder can hold a pistol and a flashlight at the same time, and he's not even a marine!

Or how about some lovely Night Vision goggles? Works with any weapon! Requires no extra hands!

The major problem I have is that here in the UK, until about 5 years ago everyone called gaffer tape gaffer tape and only Americans called it duct tape.

Bloody linguistic imperialism.

The stuff we have in the studio, which looks like gaffer tape to me, is called "Duck Tape". That is its brand name.

Incidentally, what's with the Picasso as your icon?

[identity profile] knell.livejournal.com 2004-08-19 07:37 am (UTC)(link)
The Picasso? I guess the icon's a design icon - I just love the proportions of the thing, as if someone thought "Well, we need a new tuning signal. It doesn't have to be a full-featured testcard, so let's come up with something a little unusual which still provides basic test patterns". It's a thing of beauty, insofar as a test slide can be such a thing.

I just googled to try and find out more about the duct-vs-Duck-vs-gaffer-tape thing. Apparently, gaffer tape is a subset of duct tape or something and I'm now extremely confused, and got distracted by reading this page about medical uses for the stuff and, er, what was the question again?
