10 year itch (with apologies to [livejournal.com profile] korenwolf)

We went out to a local Indian restaurant last night, the [livejournal.com profile] bellinghwoman and I.

The meal was extremely nice (as expected - the life expectancy of a sub-par restaurant in Royston is probably measurable in weeks). But it was the conversation that amused both of us.

At one point, the [livejournal.com profile] bellinghwoman said "We never did hear back from them, did we?"

And I replied "No, we didn't, did we?"

The amusing thing about this is that we knew exactly who we were talking about, we'd not talked about 'them' in weeks, and that opening comment didn't mention who 'they' were at all - it was just a tangential bounce from another subject entirely.

It's time for a change.

Could you fix the name usage in the above, please? Ta.

Umm, I'm not quite sure what you mean by "fix name usage". Do you mean that I should use LJ names, or that you're thinking about dumping him?

I'd prefer use of lj names, especially in posts (and therefore follow-ups)that are not friends-only locked, please.

And I'm certainly not thinking of dumping him :-)

OK patched up version :)

Are you planning to trade [livejournal.com profile] bellinghwoman in for another model? It might not be that healthy an option.

Oh, I think it much more likely that I'd be the one traded in.

We do that sort of thing. It really annoys the kids *g*

The marquis and I are even worse -- we often communicate in initials (as in 'ppdp' -- which has a perfectly clean meaning, btw), in developed code (as in 'I think I'm going down with a bicycle') or in mixed and bastardised language fragments ('Ex refridgerator nose tolle!' The nose usually belongs to one of the cats.) And then there's internal Cambrisge fanspeak, as in 'pixies' or 'shape-crumbling'.... Hopeless, the lot of us!

PS In the above context, bicycle = virus.
