It's too hot, still
And it's definitely too hot to be sharing the bed with a bird, a black bird at that.

Dog, being trapped inside at night (but able to see out), on seeing something violating the blobs' territory, makes the deafening barking noise to tell it in no uncertain terms, "This is MY blobs' territory, bugger off," then settles down with a warm glow of satisfaction at a job well done.
Cat, being allowed out at night, on seeing something violating it's territory, nearly-kills it and thinks, "My, what a fine nearly-dead thing. I will take it to my servants as a reward for being such good servants. They will be pleased and worship me all the more."
