On categorisation by taste

From the Beeb: Music tastes link to personality

"The general public has held a stereotype of heavy metal fans being suicidally depressed and of being a danger to themselves and society in general. But they are quite delicate things."

Awww, sweet!

Looking at the types, I appear to be distinctly confused, having both high and low self esteem. (Well, liking Mozart and Motorhead is going to be a problem for this sort of thing.)

Well I'm not the biggest outgoing type, but I love blues and jazz. Are they talking about the artists or the audience here? I'd have thought Heavy Metal would have had more "hard working" like country, cos it was more a working class thing. Maybe because it got lumped in with rock which is just such a generic word these days.

I believe they're talking about the audience.

Heavy Metal is working class? Buggerit, don't let Burke's hear about that, they'll eject me.
