Good dining

I note that the Mandarin Oriental in Tokyo has three Michelin stars for its cuisine.

Is it a cheat that it's actually a star each for three of its restaurants?

(Having eaten in one of them, I can testify that it's one of those meals I will always remember. Possibly because the combination of sheer terror at the view and wonderful food is one I don't encounter very often. Yes, they sat us by the window.)

Yes, it's a cheat. Although having three one-star restaurants is no mean feat I guess.

Yes.

That should be three one star restaurants.

Duh.

(Hmmm, I've lost track of the michelin starred restaurants I've eaten in. The last one I am sure of was in 1996)

I should point out that it's my count, not theirs. Tokyo may have more 3* places than any other city in the world, but the Mandarin is proud enough of its stars without trying to conflate them.

The view from the Sky tower in Auckland is awesome, no Michelin Stars, but they do have bungee jumpers :-)

(quickly googles)

Eek! Yes, that'd have much the same effect on me, I think.

(BTW - not heard from you in absolutely ages. We must drop over and see you some time: you haven't moved, have you?)
