Some publicly owned data to be open to the public

Namely, as of next year, it appears that OS data will be open to all.

Now can we have the PostCode database open too?

Oh, please. I have to use this Royal Mail limited site, http://postcode.royalmail.com/portal/rm/postcodefinder?catId=400145&pageId=pcaf_pc_search&gear=postcode, and a couple of others regularly. And don't get me started on 192.com.

Interesting.. can we now charge the government with "providing information useful to terrorists"?..

As noted, that's a static snapshot, slowly going out of date. For example, one of our staff moved into a new-build house last week, so hers quite possibly won't be included.

It's better than nothing, granted, but the proper up-to-date dynamic version is what's needed.
