Friday musings

There is in the Cambridge area a rather fine chain of wine merchants, named Cambridge Wine Merchants. They've been gently expanding over the last handful of years, with a branch here in Royston. They don't attempt to go for the cheap end of the market: rather, they sell stuff I don't see elsewhere such as Akashi Tai sake. They also do rather nice wine tastings, such as the event we're going to this evening.

They have a branch up in Scotland. But, presumably to avoid scaring the natives, that branch is named 'Edinburgh Wine Merchants'.

I wonder if the Cambridge branch of Edinburgh Woollen Mills will rename itself.

I rather doubt it, because no heavy browed Neanderthal on the Irn Bru is likely to put a brick through the window of a Scottish named shop in Cambridge.
