At bl**dy last

The Addenbrooke's Hospital access road is opening.

I've been wondering whether they've been waiting for the right brand of lemon-scented napkins or something.

A completed public project? In Cambridge? I'm shocked.

Well, it's (almost literally) overshadowed by the guided busway. When that's finished, then I think there may be some planners turning round and going "OK, now what?"

This road runs roughly parallel to, and a few hundred yards away from, the southern tip of the busway. When the works started, I assumed it was the busway.

Within 24 hours of it opening it will be filled with the cars that will breed if left overnight.

And as long as you have registered your car details you can use it to access the Biomedical Campus.

I wonder if it'll actually improve the traffic in the morning - I often end up queuing on the hard shoulder/slip road, even though I'm heading South, due to congestion going into Trumpington and people not believing in the yellow box at the roundabout.
