Zhang Yimou's film Hero (now out in the UK) is wonderful. If you liked Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon, then go see it.

It starts with Nameless (Jet Li's character) describing to the King of Qin how he defeated the three assassins that have made him justly paranoid, but then returns again and again to recast the truth each time. The fights are amazing (of course) and the big set pieces (such as the arrow storms) are astounding.

Jet Li is good, but Tony Leung (Broken Sword) and Maggie Cheung (Snow) are magnificent in the way that they replay supposedly the same episodes with a different emotional load each time.
