What did they do to this film? It's a 'collect six plot tokens and save the world' story, but the pacing is entirely wrong. The first plot coupon doesn't turn up for ages, and then they rattle through the rest at high speed, with no particular attention to their actual symbolic importance. Christopher Ecclestone, who is obviously auditioning to be the new Rutger Hauer, does some good work, but also has some rubbish portentous dialogue to utter. Ian McShane is paying his mortgage. And the rest are pretty forgettable, to be honest. Shoehorning American characters into it turns the story into a mess.
Avoid. Avoid especially if you liked the books.
