Michael is back. And the other two Knights of the Cross are here, too. And Susan reappears (at least she has good reasons to be away for a book or few). And, of course, Harry's getting in deeper. This time, he's trying to track down a holy relic that in the wrong hands could prove devastating, while also having to agree to fight a duel to the death with a senior vampire. And there are some particularly nasty demonic foes as well.
One interesting thing about Butcher's invention is the very cagey approach he takes towards Christianity. There's definite power in the Christian symbols, and the Knights of the Cross are powerful, but while the kingdoms of Faerie are definitely there, and demons can be raised, behind the Church is, it would appear, nothing more than the power of faith.
The series rolls on.
