HMS Superb was first launched in 1976. Most recently she has been deployed to Afghanistan to provide support for troops there.

HMS Superb is a nuclear submarine. Deploying her to Afghanistan might explain how she managed to hit a rock. It's called Asia, guys.
ETA: The final sentence has now been removed from the report.
An anonymous comment took me to task for finding the original amusing. I'm sorry for that - I'm not laughing at the fact that the submarine had a (thankfully minor, except in repair bills) accident. I'm laughing at the mental image of a submarine cruising the dry plains and high mountains of a landlocked country. Somehow, in my imagination, it's floating above the landscape like a very solid airship.
