Dublin day

Back home, after a long Sunday.

We left home at 08:10.

At about 11:30, we were at [livejournal.com profile] krabbe and Sabine's house in Carpenterstown in Dublin, meeting young Sophia again, and Sophia's grandparents, over from Munich, also again. Having excellent cake and coffee for lunch. (One reason to move to Munich would be the tradition of making excellent cakes.)

At 13:30, we 4 (Sophia staying behind with her grandparents) were at [livejournal.com profile] mizkit and [livejournal.com profile] chefted's new home for the house warming, where we met lots of people, many existing friends, but also Catie's family. Excellent food was cooked by Ted, showing why his LJ handle is so deserved. We also met the young Henry for the first time (two babies in one day is unusual for us), and later on the pair of Japanese Bobtails that deign to let Ted and Catie share their house.

At about 20:00 (some two hours after the supposed end of the gathering), we departed Dublin District 9 (the view of Croke Park from their house led to that appellation). [livejournal.com profile] irishkate gave us a lift back up to the airport. This was greatly appreciated, though we worry somewhat that the extra mileage might have contributed to her car breaking down on the way back to the south coast.

And at 0:00, we were outside our house again, just under 16 hours after we had left.

On the farm

No post on what we did on the farm this weekend gone, for the reason obvious from the previous post. As a result of our absence there were only 4 people there yesterday, doing stuff like trimming the potato flowers, mulching the beans, and the like. But at least there's been a bit of rain in the last few days, so hand watering is less vital.

I've just looked at the map of Carpenterstown in Dublin.

Apparently the locals get a little confused as to which street is which. I don't know why - it's not as though anyone would have difficulty remembering the difference between Riverwood Road, Riverwood Court, Riverwood Copse, Riverwood Dene, Riverwood Chase, Riverwood Glebe, Riverwood Glen, Riverwood Drive, Riverwood Grove, Riverwood Park, Riverwood Gardens, Riverwood View, Riverwood Lawn, Riverwood Way, Riverwood Heath, Riverwood Crescent, Riverwood Place, Riverwood Dale and Riverwood Vale, and Riverwood Green.

Now, if one of those had been Riverworld instead, I could have understood.
