I would have got stuck in it, if a neighbour hadn't been sitting outside waiting for his ride, which had been stuck in it since shortly after 8. I was warned and went into town to get out on the A505 on the other side. The queue went all the way down there, and kept filling up.

My normal route in (I'm after all only 20 metres from the edge of the carpark you used to park in when at TAP) was fairly unaffected, except that Queens/Mill Road had one heck of a tailback on.

Hope it doesn't bugger up the bus.

If it's coming up from Royston (which I assume likely - Harston is on the road between Royston and Cambridge, so that's the probable rough route too), then it may well do.

Since it happened earlyish this morning, there's a reasonable chance that it gets cleared before your evening commute.

Curious. When I went past a bit before 6am, the trailer was on its side while the tractor was upright, and neither was on the roadway.

Indeed, the only obstruction was the police car parked behind it...

Very odd.

Maybe they tried to right it, and then it spilled.

It would have spilled when it went over - it's a U-section top-load trailer, probably full of root vegetables or stone.

At a guess, it had come off the A10 from Harston too fast and run wide, mounting the verge between the A10 to Royston and the A505 towards Baldock. The tractor made it, but the trailer tripped up and overbalanced, which would have spilled the load, but outwards towards the hedge.

All very curious - I'd have thought it could perfectly well have been left until after rush hour for recovery, and there was no need to close most of the roundabout at any time.

Odder, then.

Maybe they'd hoped to clear it before the rush really started, but took way longer than they thought.

The roundabout is wide enough that they ought to be able to filter people past outside heavy traffic times, too.

Heh. My first thought was "a shed-load of what?" *g*

We have ninja sheds up here.
