Date: 2008-06-25 10:01 am (UTC)Since it happened earlyish this morning, there's a reasonable chance that it gets cleared before your evening commute.

Date: 2008-06-25 10:24 am (UTC)At a guess, it had come off the A10 from Harston too fast and run wide, mounting the verge between the A10 to Royston and the A505 towards Baldock. The tractor made it, but the trailer tripped up and overbalanced, which would have spilled the load, but outwards towards the hedge.
All very curious - I'd have thought it could perfectly well have been left until after rush hour for recovery, and there was no need to close most of the roundabout at any time.

Date: 2008-06-25 10:33 am (UTC)Maybe they'd hoped to clear it before the rush really started, but took way longer than they thought.
The roundabout is wide enough that they ought to be able to filter people past outside heavy traffic times, too.
