OK, the Rescue at Sea quest is broken. Or at least bent.

The mob spawn rate has been heavily curtailed. It was previously a little too high - one could end up being unable to disengage - but it's now been slashed so far that I just gave up and went off to do something else in the end. As did the other person also waiting.

Since this is a daily quest, and everyone gets it at the same time, there will be huge numbers of people queuing up for the now overly scarce resource.

(I'd go back to 60% of the previous rate.)

Based on the comments last night about the herb/ore spawn rates I reckon they've deployed some developer test rates into the live.

I didn't see any increase in ore spawn rates while on Val. Herb was possibly faster, but out of over 100 herbs, I got 2 frost lotus, which I don't consider an improvement in droprate :/

Inasmuch as there was an increase in gatherable resources, it's gone now. This morning it was almost impossible to find titanium at all. (Although it seems that mornings are when all the serious miners go out.)

There's a list on the forums of the broken quests - there's quite a few of them - but I don't have the link handy and can't remember all of them. This one _was_ mentioned, at least I think it was.
