Yay indeed! I am flying through LHR on the 31st. With BA, so let's just hope their strike remains in dormant mode as well.

We're with Cathay Pacific (no, not Canadian Pacific, we were with them last year from Toronto to Vancouver, nor Indian Pacific, which is our carrier Sydney to Perth), so aren't having to worry about BA.

Yay - though I was hoping for the strike to hit Birmingham on the Monday as currently my flight leaves before the closing ceremonies (which I only realised after booking it)

Birmingham isn't a BAA airport, so you probably wouldn't have been affected anyway.

We're not only going to miss the closing ceremony, we're going to miss Rocky Horror too :-(, given that we have to get to Heathrow via Royston by about 7pm (can we say two sides of a triangle? why, yes we can <g> )

Oh I know - but a girl can hope - I'm flying Aer Lingus and still hoping a BA strike might delay me too!!

But, while I am sorry you are missing the closing ceremony and VERY sorry you won't be there for the Rocky Horror, I have to admit to a certain relief that I'm not alone in leaving before the end.. If you know what I mean?
