Inspired by a tweet by
liasbluestone, I've just been browsing to see who went to the same college as me. And then I started wandering down Wikipedia's list of alumni to see what interesting first names there were (especially from past generations), remembering
la_marquise_de_'s recent post on names in fantasy.
Morien.
Ofspring.
Kevin. Oh ok, the antithesis of an interesting name (though High Lord Kevin is an actual fantasy character), but a contemporary of mine who died a few years ago.
Somtow.
Hmm, that is an unusual name, but one I recognise. Wait a moment, that's Somtow Sucharitkul, currently trading as S P Somtow. That's one of those wonderfully exotic names - but because I first encountered him in the pages of US SF magazine Asimov's, I always assumed he was a Thai/American writer. I'd never thought him associated with this country, let alone going to the same college as me.
