My mother is going into hospital today for an operation. She's having a pacemaker fitted, and we're hoping it will address the tendency to faint that she's recently had.

Thanks.

Big sister is with her (the same sister who just took forever to get to Silverstone from Orlando yesterday). And the pair of them are due over here on Thursday afternoon.

And good luck with the move (it is today, isn't it?)

Thanks.

Your Mum also was fainting, and it fixed it?

She was and it did, although we both know it is problematic when the only just informed - us - draw parallels between unrelated cases. On my mum's experience, I would be optimistic about the outcome. At their age (she was 80+) they aren't going to expend a surgeon's time and all that money unless they are confident of their diagnosis.

My Mum isn't quite that old - well, 80 within the fortnight.

It's been the thing most worrying us over the last few months (since the cancer was declared clear). It's good to hear about others in the same situation that it's helped.

It's appreciated. And she's due over here on Thursday, so we're all assuming it's pretty much an out-patient op, unlike the replacement hips and radio therapy she's previously had.

I hope so too - at least, Sis will be driving her over, so that makes life easier.

We are assuming she can travel, of course, but we've not heard any expectation that she won't be able to.
