If Christopher Cockerell had designed the F.E.2b, it would look something like this!

Of course the trouble with a plausible air-car is that it'll still have an implausible driver; like the one who went upside-down into the ditch across the road from the bottom of our hill (you know the one) having heeded neither the corner, the potential for ice or the speed limit. No physical injuries, but the car was a write-off, at least after the recovery people had finished with it.

Pulling the same stunt from 5000 feet would be a bit less forgiving...

And that is indeed one of the main problems with the whole concept - not just for the occupants, but also for anyone living anywhere near a flight path.
