This is a collection of short stories by Neil Gaiman, one of the most interesting fantasy writers out there. Pretty nearly every story here is a gem, and they vary widely in mood, too. What is especially interesting the long introduction, in which he explains how many of the stories came about. Some have taken him years to write - and since he's not as old as Methuselah, that means he must have mastered the art of multi-tasking as a writer.
Oh, and if you skip that introduction, you'll miss a story actually embedded in it.
