Hubble's main camera shuts down. Which would be extremely bad news, the beginning of the slow decline to its end if it were not for the planned 2008 mission, when that main camera should be replaced.

Let's hope that shuttle flies.

In the mean time, it's a reminder of how it's not going to last forever. Unless it's maintained and then replaced, we'll no longer have the ability to stare deep into infinity, and if staring deep into infinity isn't a most basic human trait, what is?
