Kaja Foglio, Phil Foglio: Girl Genius #2: Agatha Heterodyne and the Airship City

Paperback: 112 pages

ISBN-10: 1890856304

I reviewed volume 1 of this series a little while back. This is the second volume, and it's now in colour (except sepia flashbacks), and also a bit thicker. But the art and writing are both as insane as ever.

At the end of the previous volume, Agatha had been taken aboard Castle Wulfenbach, a giant airship in whose corridors one can easily get lost, and which boast more hidden doors and secret tunnels than your average ground-based castle. The Baron has taken Agatha and the man she was found with, because he believes the man may be a Spark - someone with Mad Scientist Genius. Only his son Gilgamesh suspects the truth - that Agatha is the Spark.

By the end of the book, Agatha has found out more about her past, but not yet why the Jägermonsters all seem to like the smell of her (it's because she's a Heterodyne, and the Heterodynes created the Jägers). And she's still unaware of who her parents were.

More inspired lunacy.
