The fallout of the previous volume - Thunderbird Falls - arrives. And no, it's not just that new waterfall.
Joanne Walker wakes up in bed with a gorgeous hunk of a man, and no real memory of how he got there. As a just-under-6-foot former motor mechanic, she's not used to being admired for her looks (though see this post for how the author envisions her - mriaow!), and at first it all seems to good to be true. And then all her colleagues start going down with an unexplained 'blue flu', leaving them hors de combat. And it's going to get worse. Also, Jo's spirit guide Coyote has gone missing, possibly ... well, whatever a spirit becomes instead of dead.
This is not a sub-genre I'd be reading if not for the author (who is a very nice person), but it does work very nicely.
And regarding the cover, what you can't see in the thumbnail is that there's a gloss highlight of a coyote paw print on it. When I noticed it, I then went back and found that the previous volume had a feather, whereas the first volume just has a generic liquid-running-down-wall effect.
The third in a nice series.
